THR reports Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Prods. is going back to its genre roots with Tell-Tale, a modern-day reimagining of the Edgar Allan Poe classic The Tell-Tale Heart from director Michael Cuesta and screenwriter Dave Callaham.
“Tell-Tale is a psychological thriller that sets Poe’s haunting tale against the backdrop of modern science,” Scott Free president Michael Costigan said.
Scott Free is the company behind American Gangster, which bows Friday. The Scott brothers made their early name with Alien and The Hunger.
The Poe-inspired film will be produced by Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and Costigan as well as Social Capital’s Christopher Tuffin and Martin Shore. Shore is a Santa Monica-based equity firm that was brought to Scott Free by indie film broker the Gordon Steel Co. Shore made his money in the real estate business, while Tuffin is a producer.
The film is budgeted at $20 million and will be shot in early 2008. Casting is under way. Gordon Steel and partner John Baca suggested that the tone of the film likely will be a cross between Jacob’s Ladder and Marathon Man.

We’ve all seen the horror film before that involves on a character having “extra-sensory perception” or relying on Tarot cards to provide some supernatural intrigue. When you look at the film The Gift, most people will cringe as the storyline seems like another lame voodoo filled supernatural horror thriller. Thankfully, The Gift was Directed by Sam Raimi and he does a great job…

I have been wanting to see this movie since it’s short lived theatrical release. I really have no idea why, other than I thought it intriguing to see what a “Christian” horror movie would be like. Also in Thr3e’s favor is the fact it is not a remake.
In a nutshell the plot of the movie revolves around a seminary student who, while driving home from class,…

Brother Odd Dean Koontz Odd Thomas
The paperback of Brother Odd by Dean Koontz, the third novel in the series, arrives in stores on October 30. Odd has left his beloved small town, Pico Mundo, to stay as a visitor in a monastery high in the California sierra. He expects to find peace there, time to think and put his life back together. Peace doesn’t follow Odd, however; evil and chaos follow him, and it is Odd’s job to confront them, vanquish them, and create peace.
“I continue to be delighted by the enduring resonance of the chord that has been struck in readers by my humble fry-cook hero, Odd Thomas,” says Koontz. “The flood of mail from readers regarding Oddie has buoyed me on many a down day.”
He adds, “I’m currently completing the fourth book (Odd Hours) in the series, in which Odd finds himself in a California beach town that is every bit as dangerous as it is picturesque. I’ll tell you more about it in the months ahead. May all your Halloween dreams come true – or not, if they’re dreams about Armageddon.”
See Odd Thomas’ new web site and view the trailer here: Odd Thomas.

Michael Ferentino Subhuman Experiments
Subhuman Experiments is the new horror label from the mind of Michael Ferentino, the man behind such projects as Love in Reverse and Bedtime for Robots. Abandoning the painfully predictable conventions of the “3 and a half minute verse/chorus/verse/chorus/break and maybe a bridge/one-more snappy chorus repeated multiple times” pop-song format, the artists of Subhuman Experiments bring you, the listener, a wealth of unusual noisescapes and sound explorations.
“We consider ourselves a sort of alternative to the traditional record labels, most of which have drowned themselves in their own seas of mediocrity, bottom-line mentalities, and pre-packaged marshmallow fluff recordings,” says Ferentino. “From the bombastic, melodic electronic goodies offered up by Perpetual Mourning to the dark ambient noisescapes of Bedtime for Robots and Rotting Moldy Flesh (as well as a few off-beat surprises from Speak the Worms, Corduroy Poo-Poo, and Love in Reverse), the artists of Subhuman Experiments share two common goals … to create for the sake of creation…and to explore the depths of sonic possibility…”

Halloween mixes abound during the Halloween season. Most of them are a pleasing mix of the familiar, the obscure and the downright left-of-field. One of my favourites for 2007 is Canuxploitation expert and occassional Horror Roundtable contributor Paul Corupe and his House of Shock. Paul is the go-to guy for vintage cult [...]
