"The Secret Circle" Episode 1.11 "Fire/Ice" (1/12/12 Air Date; 9:00-10:00 PM):
FAYE’S QUEST FOR POWER THREATENS THE CIRCLE — Cassie (Britt Robertson) asks Adam (Thomas Dekker) for help when she wants to look into her father’s past, and their search leads them to an eerily familiar place. It also rekindles an old flame when Adam, thrilled to be spending time with Cassie again, asks her to the Fire and Ice dance. But because of her friendship with Diana (Shelley Hennig) Cassie is forced to give a surprising response.

In an effort to be a better father, Ethan (Adam Harrington) offers to chaperone the dance, much to Adam's dismay.

Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) asks Lee (guest star Grey Damon; "Friday Night Lights", "True Blood")) to help her with a spell that would grant her individual magic. Unfortunately, the spell has some terrifying side effects that nearly destroy the Circle.

Jessica Parker Kennedy also stars. Joshua Butler directed the episode written by Holly Henderson and Don Whitehead.

Alice Does Not Find a Wonderland in the New Malice Web Series

Posted by Foywonder on December 31, 2011

Alice Does Not Find a Wonderland in the New Malice Web SeriesIt's been a long time since there’s been anything new from Philip Cook, an industrious low budget filmmaker whose films Invader and Despiser are overlooked gems deserving to be rediscovered. He’s finally back behind the camera with a new web series called Malice that puts a very different spin on the idea of Alice going down the rabbit hole.

Synopsis:
Malice concerns the Turner family’s supernatural adventures in their late grandma’s home. It’s up to teens Alice and Abbey to solve mysteries and survive dangers emanating from the old home. And when people start disappearing, Alice--the sixteen year-old with an active imagination--must go down the “rabbit hole” and confront a shocking revelation.

This contemporary Gothic horror-fantasy web series starring Brittany Martz, Rebekkah Johnson, Mark Hyde, Leanna Chamish, and Matthew Gulbranson begins with bi-weekly episodes January 15th.

Philip Cook’s 1992 Invader is a witty pre-“X-Files”-ish science fiction flick about a reporting investigating UFO sightings that turn out to be the work of an ultra-nationalistic, megalomaniacal, giant robot built in part from reverse engineered UFO parts that decides to nuke the rest of the world for the greater glory of the United States of America.

Cook’s entertaining 2003 supernatural “Mad Max”-ish Despiser revolves around a small band of characters trying to find their way out of Purgatory while having to deal with the monstrous occupant of a crashed UFO that doesn’t realize it’s dead and has made itself overlord of the afterlife.

With Malice it seems Mr. Cook is keeping with what seems to be his modus operandi of taking about a decade between projects. He may truly be the Terrence Malick of micro-budget genre filmmakers.

Check out the trailer for Malice below, and then head over to the Malice Facebook page for more info on this web series beginning January 15th.

Left 4 Dead Fan Film Tears Up the Interwebs

Posted by Uncle Creepy on December 31, 2011

We've been sitting on this one for a couple of weeks because it's the perfect way to send out 2011. A fan film based upon Valve's video game franchise Left 4 Dead (reviews here) that is nothing short of badass. This is the perfect example of there being young talented filmmakers out there who know how to do a lot with a little, and we completely applaud them.

The short film is a co-production between Northern Five Entertainment and Airsoft GI and was directed by Adrian Picardi on a budget just big enough to feed the entire crew, ship out the costumes from across the country, and pay for a couple of the props and some of the crew’s gas. Check out an interview with Picardi here along with over 100 behind-the-scenes stills from the production.

Since the film's release it has garnered over 700,000 views. Watch it below along with a making-of video and feast on what all the well deserved buzz is about.

The UK Summons Demons Via Ouija Board

Posted by Uncle Creepy on December 31, 2011

While we continue to spin our wheels here in the States waiting for the "family adventure" that will be Ouija, based upon the Hasbro game which lets you contact the dead, our friends across the pond have a far more appropriate and sinister usage for the talking board cooking.

We've got a still and some early artwork for Ouija, written and directed by indie filmmaker Darren Lynch and starring Jessica Gaucher-Thompson, Conner Lynch, Ekua Ghansah, Mark Heap, and Roxy Freeman.

"Ouija is something different than any other horror; firstly there isn't a film about a Ouija board that has ever been a huge success," says director Lynch. "Until now. This film has everything a horror fanatic is looking for. Scare factors, gore, lots of jumpy bits, and of course ... a great storyline. I was inspired by the Ouija board to write this story. I have done a few in my time but never come across anything spooky. But I have been told not to mess with the arts of Ouija so I wrote this story in other people's eyes, how they have come across evil on the board."

Lynch continues, "We have finished filming now after a hard working 5 weeks, and the film has now gone into post-production. The film is looking really good. We have been filming in a woods around the area of Shelton Lock in Derby. I am aiming for cinema release on this one next Halloween."

Look for more soon. In the interim you can listen to a radio interview with Lynch and a couple of the movie's stars, Ekua Ghansah and Mark Heap, below via YouTube.

Synopsis
Ouija is centered around 9 friends who go out for the night in the woods, drinking and smoking. One of them decides to bring along the Ouija board, summoning a demon that then begins to stalk the camp, killing them one by one.

See Brooke Hogan Beat Off a Sea Monster in New 2-Headed Shark Attack Stills

Posted by Uncle Creepy on December 31, 2011

Oh, Brooke Hogan. So lovely. So shapely. You look so good sandwiched between the dual jaws of a giant-ass killer shark, blood pooling up around you in the water. The only thing that could make this any better is if your dad, Hulk Hogan, showed up to drop the leg (and have it bitten off) on this non-stop killing machine!

Below you'll find three new stills from The Asylum's 2-Headed Shark Attack from Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus director Chris Ray and screenwriter H. Perry Horton. Carmen Electra, Brooke Hogan, Charlie O’Connell, and a slew of nearly bare bodies star.

Synopsis
Survivors escape to a deserted atoll after a Semester at Sea ship is sunk by a mutated two-headed shark. But when the atoll starts flooding, no one is safe from the double jaws of the monster.

Ward 8 Changes Title to The Warning and Finds its Own Identity

Posted by Uncle Creepy on December 31, 2011

A couple of weeks ago two one-sheets debuted that ripped off the Paranormal Activity franchise so badly in style that even the dudes at The Asylum were like, "Really?" Thankfully the folks behind that flick have seen the error of their ways and have scrapped the original title of Ward 8 and their initial concept artwork. That being said, get ready to dig on the goods for The Warning.

"This is the first time Black and Blue Films have dipped their toe in the found footage waters, and following in the footsteps of The Blair Witch Project and the Paranormal Activity series is quite a challenge," says producer Jonathan Sothcott. "But we Brits have always found a way to put a new spin on horror genre staples, and with The Warning director Alexander Williams has given us a powerful, nightmarishly scary journey into fear. There are none of the familiar Black and Blue faces in this film, no Danny Dyer or Colin Salmon - this is a raw, uncompromising genre picture that is going to really get under people's skin!"

Synopsis
We were warned in an ancient Mayan prophecy that the 21st December 2012 would be the beginning of the end, but not how and where this new era would unveil itself. Until now.

In December 2011 a strange futuristic-looking artifact was uncovered in an uncharted Mayan temple in Mexico - examination of the artifact revealed binary coded information which appeared to be encoded footage. The content was unlocked by students at Chicago state university and appeared to be several hours of video footage heralding the end of the world… time stamped in the near future.

Investigation of those featured in the footage produced several names, and the authorities attempted to question those involved about the validity of the footage.

But all of the people featured in this footage have disappeared ...

[BEST & WORST '11] Evan Dickson’s 5 Worst Moments In Horror 2011!

Posted by Bloody-Disgusting Horror News on December 31, 2011
Oh hey, I didn't see you there! I came to the conclusion that writing a list of the worst films of the year would not be an appropriate way to quantify the amount of pain some of the weaker entries in the genre have caused me this year. So if we're talking damages and therapy bills, I figure life comes down to handful of formative moments. Some of these moments are beautiful and grand, others are painful and wretched. For example, there are numerous films this year that would have made my "Top Worst" list - except that many of them in their entirety aren't as painful as one single second of 'Creature'. I also don't want to kick a bunch of poor indie movies while they're down - no one's gonna see them anyway. Better to stick to the wide releases. As a proud "bottom-feeder", hit the jump to check out my list of the 5 Worst Moments in Horror 2011!

[BEST & WORST '11] Evan Dickson’s List Of The 6 Best Horror Films of 2011!

Posted by Bloody-Disgusting Horror News on December 31, 2011
Oh hey, I didn't see you there! Guys, I had a hard time with my year-end "best-of" list. It's not that I didn't see enough horror movies that I loved enough this year to make the cut (though unfortunately that's almost true). No, it's just that there are six movies vying for pole position on that all appeal to me in very different ways. Sure, I know that some films are "better" than others. There's one film on here that I wouldn't be surprised at all if it got some Oscar love. The remaining five? Well, I'd be shocked if they did. Would I place The Innkeepers above Martha Marcy Mary Marlene? No. But depending on the type of thrills and scares you're into it might be a much better fit. Are either one of them as kinetic, chaotic and invigorating as You're Next!? Nope. But that's what makes horror great! It's a surprisingly diverse genre with more to offer than most casual viewers give it credit for. Are these my absolute six favorite films of the year? Well, almost all of them would be in my overall Top Ten along with The Descendants and Young Adult. But we're not here to talk about those films, so hit the jump for my favorite horror (ish) films of 2011*.

[2012 HORROR MOVIE PREVIEW] DIMENSION FILMS

Posted by Bloody-Disgusting Horror News on December 31, 2011
Dimension Films is struggling to get their feet under 'em and have full intentions of running full steam ahead. Last year they got Scream 4 in theaters, along with Apollo 18. But they didn't hit the jackpot with either, and have changed the faces behind the curtain multiple times. The decision-making is looking more and more like a game of pin the tail on the donkey (only with scripts) with the future remaining fuzzy. When I prepped this article, Dimension had slated a few horror films for 2012, now, everything is labeled TBD (to be determined). There's a ton of great stuff in the pipeline, but who knows if any of it will come into fruition.
