Gangsters, Guns & Zombies Trailer Fires Away

Posted by Uncle Creepy on May 18, 2012

The trailer for another flick that hit our radar during last year's AFM, Gangsters, Guns & Zombies, is here, and let's just say that it delivers on its namesake. What are ya waiting for? Add a little undead action to your afternoon!

Matt Mitchell's indie opus Gangsters, Guns & Zombies stars Vincent Jerome, Huggy Leaver, and Fabrizio Santino. Check out the massive synopsis below.

Synopsis
The whole "zombie thing" has been hyped up so much that everyone thinks it's the end of the world!

Of course, where one man sees the dead rising from the grave, another sees opportunity. Q had a plan: drive the robbery getaway van, deliver everyone to the safe house and get paid - a nice, simple plan.

Unfortunately, life is never really that simple, and to top it all off, this is the first time Q has been a getaway driver...

...He's coping pretty well, though, considering TONY (the guy who is 'in charge' of the job) is a murderous nut case, DANNY was shot and is now bleeding all over the money in the back of the van, the Sat-Nav has a mind of its own, there's a guy in the back living up to his name "CRAZY STEVE", the safe house already has police at it and this whole "zombie thing" seems to be quickly becoming more of a "zombie apocalypse thing".

Luckily, TONY knows of another safe house on the coast. Not so luckily, DANNY dies of natural-ish causes and then rises from the grave. Q and the others have to deal with a recently zombie-fied medieval re-enactment group, a football team that seem hellbent on eating their brains and the van running out of fuel.

In their search for refuge and some diesel, TONY spots - of all things - a fortified windmill, and the group awkwardly team up with a lovely young woman called CASSIE and her insane, but well armed GRANDMA. As TONY descends into deeper and deeper psychosis, he forces a last stand against a zombie horde, dies horribly and takes GRANDMA with him. Not bad for a night's work.

Some men are born into shit-storms, some achieve shit-storms and some have shit-storms thrust upon them. Q is up to his neck in this one and must now take charge of the group in order to save his own skin – not to mention the much more attractive skin of CASSIE.

Finally reaching the coast, the new group must figure out a way off this crazy island – lack of sailing know-how and the walking dead notwithstanding. Just when things couldn't get any worse, one of them suffers an accident and lands Q with a dilemma. In one hand he holds his own life and in the other the lives of the group. Whom does he choose? Watch GANGSTERS, GUNS & ZOMBIES to find out!

The flick stars "Heroes"' Milo Ventimiglia, "The L Word"'s Sarah Shahi, and Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left; The Innkeepers). Check out the trailer below, and look for more soon!

Posted by Uncle Creepy on May 18, 2012

Here's the thing... When Ving Rhames asks you for his legs, you don't hesitate. You don't ask him any questions. You don't even look at him funny. You turn around, grab his appendages, hand them to him, and hope he doesn't stick a foot up your ass.

Piranha 3DD reteams Feast director John Gulager and writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan in the sequel starring Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer and David Hasselhoff.

Look for it in theatres and VOD on June 1st.

Synopsis
After the terror unleashed on Lake Victoria in PIRANHA 3D, the pre-historic school of blood thirsty piranhas are back. This time, no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of summer’s best attraction, The Big Wet Water Park. Christopher Lloyd (BACK TO THE FUTURE) reprises his role as the eccentric piranha expert with survivor Paul Scheer (THE LEAGUE) and a partially devoured Ving Rhames (PULP FICTION) back for more fish frenzy. David Hasselhoff trades in the sandy beaches of “Baywatch” to be a celebrity lifeguard at the racy water park. Prepare for double the terror, double the action and double the D’s in this sequel also starring Gary Busey (LETHAL WEAPON), Katrina Bowden (30 ROCK), Danielle Panabaker (THE CRAZIES), Matt Bush (ADVENTURELAND), Chris Zylka (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) and David Koechner (ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY).

Cannes 2012: Sleep Tight Lands Distro Through MPI Media Group/Dark Sky Films; New Still Released

Posted by The Woman In Black on May 18, 2012

MPI Media Group has announced its acquisition at the Cannes Film Market of all North American rights to Sleep Tight (Mientras Duermes), a psychological thriller from director Jaume Balaguero that we've been talking about for some time around these parts, and provided a new still.

From the Press Release:
Sleep Tight will be released theatrically in the fall of 2012 through MPI’s genre arm, Dark Sky Films. The theatrical release will be followed by VOD and DVD availability.

The North American distribution deal was negotiated by Greg Newman, Executive VP of MPI Media Group, and Ivan Diaz of Filmax.

Sleep Tight is a Filmax Entertainment and Castelao Pictures production, produced by Julio Fernandez. Written by Alberto Marini (Films to Keep You Awake), Sleep Tight stars Luis Tosar (The Limits of Control) as Cesar, an apartment building doorman who keeps very close tabs on the residents’ private lives and whose only happiness comes from others’ misery. One building resident in particular, the cheery, happy-go-lucky Clara (Marta Etura; The Impossible), makes his skin crawl. He becomes determined to do whatever it takes to wipe the smile off her face.

Tense and disturbing, Sleep Tight has been nominated for more than 20 awards in Spain and won six Gaudi Awards, including Best Director for Jaume Balaguero, Best Actor for Luis Tosar, and Best Screenplay.

Sand Sharks Prowl the Beaches on US DVD This Summer

Posted by Foywonder on May 18, 2012

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... Who needs water when a prehistoric species of sand-swimming sharks begins prowling the beach? Sand Sharks is poised to be the schlockbuster of the summer.

Corin Nemec (Mansquito) and Brooke Hogan (2-Headed Shark Attack) star in Mark Atkins’ horror comedy Sand Sharks, a movie that has “Syfy original movie” written all over it yet looks to be bypassing that channel altogether. Not sure why. Might have something to do with the movie being more comedy than horror; Syfy movie execs, by all accounts, have a weird thing about how their movies should never be intentionally funny.

Synopsis:
Jimmy Green, a prodigal party boy, is throwing the spring break festival of a lifetime on the island of White Sands. Little do the hundreds of teenage party-goers know, an underwater earthquake has cracked open a crater beneath the ocean’s surface. This demolition unleashes the most menacing beasts to ever rule the waters... and the only predator to ever swim through sand. It mercilessly feeds on anything that crosses its path, and it is up to those left on the island to stop the carnage.

Our UK critic “Pestilence” hated the movie. Uncle Creepy had a blast watching it. I fell somewhere in the middle. You’ll get to decide for yourself when Phase 4 Films releases Sand Sharks to North American DVD on July 31st.
