Godsmack’s Sully Erna, Tony Todd and Complete Army of the Damned Cast to Invade Rock and Shock

Posted by Scott Hallam on October 8, 2013

Godsmack's Sully Erna, Tony Todd and Complete Army of the Damned Cast to Invade Rock and ShockOnce again this year, Rock and Shock will turn over its main event Saturday night film spot to Woodhaven Production Company, who will deliver the worldwide debut of Army of the Damned with the entire star-studded cast in attendance!

We had a visit to the Army of the Damned set earlier this year (Part 1 and Part 2) and were stunned by the eclectic and diverse cast. Rock band Godsmack's frontman Sully Erna was there as well as horror icons Tony Todd and Michael Berryman, 'N Sync's Joey Fatone, wrestlers Tommy Dreamer, Maria Kanellis and Thea Trinidad, David Chokachi from "Baywatch" and veteran horror star Nick Principe. As fans of horror and entertainment in general, we thought our readers would appreciate meeting these cast members, and now producer Chad A. Verdi is making that a reality at this year's Rock and Shock convention.

"I'm excited that the whole cast is going to be there," Verdi said. "It's going to be huge. It's the first time the actors from all my films are going to be there together. Eric Roberts (who starred in Woodhaven's Self-Storage) is coming to do a sneak preview of Self Storage. I usually don't get too excited about it, but this is going to be pretty amazing." And Verdi has a great deal for fans seeking autographs. For the price of what one signature normally costs, fans are going to have the chance to get an Army of the Damned item signed by the entire cast. Now that's a sweet deal

Army of the Damned Rock and Shock

Army of the Damned will be making its worldwide premiere on Saturday night. We'll get you the official time as soon as it's announced. Before the film, Verdi is bringing all his Woodhaven family together for a Q&A panel (hosted by yours truly, Doctor Gash!). "I don't know how many people we can get on that dais, but there's going to be a lot," Verdi said. "With Army writer/director Tom DeNucci and Sully and Tony Todd and Joey Fatone, Nick Principe, Chokachi…we're going to really have to squeeze them in there."

Fresh off the buzz that his producing partners, Martin Scorsese and Bruce Cohen, were scouting Rhode Island for locations for their next film Bleed For This, Verdi comes to Rock and Shock bringing an entire entourage and meeting up with some old friends. "It'll be great to see some of the actors who starred in my other films," Verdi said. "Robert Englund will be there and William Forsythe. Rock and Shock has really done an amazing job for this 10th Anniversary Show."

As they are still adding names to the guest list, we'll keep an eye out for Rock and Shock updates and give you all the information on the celebrity guests, film festival and music line-up later this week. Also, you can visit the official Rock and Shock website, "like" Rock and Shock on Facebook and follow Rock and Shock on Twitter (@rockandshockusa).

Needless to say, if you're a fan of horror, rock music or just fun in general, be sure to get your buns to Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 18-20. See ya there!

Chad Verdi Announces Self Storage 2, Talks Army of the Damned, and Lands Martin Scorsese to Co-Produce Passion Project

Posted by Scott Hallam on June 13, 2013

Chad Verdi Announces New Film, Talks Army of the Damned and Lands Martin Scorsese to Co-Produce Passion ProjectTo say that producer Chad A. Verdi has made a splash on the horror industry would be quite the understatement. In just the last two years he has produced films starring Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Michael Berryman and many more.

And he's just getting started.

Verdi inked a four-picture deal with Screen Media guaranteeing him distribution for his films before they were even made. A monumental feat for an independent film company. Now Verdi continues to add to his catalog of films, and even landed legendary director Martin Scorsese to co-produce a project he's always dreamed of making.

Verdi recently sat down with Dread Central to talk about his recently wrapped film Army of the Damned and his upcoming projects. "I feel Army of the Damned is the best horror movie we've made yet. No question about it," Verdi said. I think the actors came in, they delivered and with (director) Tom DeNucci being behind the camera and not being behind the camera and acting, he demonstrated how great of a director he can be. Tommy is like finding a needle in a haystack. He's young, he's 28 years old. He's the real deal. I love the way the movie looks."

Fans can expect to get a look at Army of the Damned, starring Tony Todd, Michael Berryman, Sully Erna, Joey Fatone, Jackie Moore, Tommy Dreamer, Thea Trinidad and Maria Kanellis soon. "Whether we release it at the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014, we have distribution from Screen Media," Verdi said. "It'll have a limited release in theaters then hit VOD through Universal. The elements are there for an unbelievable film. It has sex, drugs and rock and roll!"

Verdi discussed some of the acting newcomers that made a splash in the film. "Thea Trinidad and Sully Erna went above and beyond," Verdi said. "This was their first time. Sully's the real deal. Sully can perform. I expect him to be a commodity in this sector. And Thea Trinidad and Tommy Dreamer, the first time really having lines, were great! I was actually more impressed with them than my leads. I was more impressed because I didn't expect them to deliver the performances they did. And Joey Fatone is absolutely hilarious and might have stolen the show in this film."

Although the unveiling of Army of the Damned is a bit down the road, the next film Verdi plans to release is his Eric Roberts vehicle Self Storage. In fact, he's so confident the film will be a success, he's just announced the next horror picture from his camp will be Self Storage 2, and he plans on bringing some horror heavyweights in for this sequel. "We're thinking of coming back with Self Storage 2 for our next horror movie," Verdi said. "Infected is doing great, but the reason for Self Storage 2 is because Eric Roberts really wants to come back and work with us. It's going to be a 2014 production. I'm going to be speaking with agent Judy Fox about bringing in Bill Moseley and bringing Tony Todd back and having a little bit of a collaboration. We may possibly even work with Robert Englund again on this picture for a day or two. What we're trying to do is replicate what we did in Army of the Damned, like The Expendables of a horror movie."

Verdi discussed his vision for Self Storage 2. "The premise would be the one character who survives the original film will hunt down Eric Roberts because he's killed all his friends," Verdi said. "It's more of a revenge film. Then Eric goes into the underworld to hide and he meets the Tony Todds of the world, the Robert Englunds of the world and the Bill Moseleys of the world and they protect him. We're also trying to figure out a way to bring Jonathan Silverman back as well. We're really excited about the project. Tony Todd had a lot of fun on Army of the Damned and he wants to come back and work with us. Robert Englund as well. So we believe we have all the talent to make an unbelievable horror movie."

And even with all this horror going on, and quite frankly because of all this horror going on, Verdi has found time to work on the one project he's always dreamed about, a biopic about legendary boxer Vinny Pazienza, and he's recruited some huge names to work alongside him. "Because of all the success we've had with our horror films, we're able to make Bleed for This, the story of Vinny Paz," Verdi said. Although not in the horror vein, Bleed for This is certainly a film fans will enjoy. And the fact that it was built on the back of some kick-ass indie horror films makes it that much more enjoyable. "My producing partner, Noah Kraft, and I got involved in the film business in 2009 with one purpose: to have the story of Vinny Paz told. Over the past four years, I have produced six feature films. Recently, Ben Younger came on board to write and direct Bleed for This. It's Ben's vision, and we now have the support of Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, who are producing. I was introduced to Martin and Emma through Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, who has been instrumental in helping me develop these projects."

Verdi continues to land some of the biggest names for his films. Names like Tony Todd, Robert Englund, Eric Roberts and now Martin Scorsese are certain to impress fans. We can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.

Godsmacked! Rocker Sully Erna to Make Cinematic Debut in Woodhaven Films' Army of the Damned"Keep Away," "I Stand Alone," "Cryin' Like a Bitch"... sounds like a description of Doctor Gash's high school years. Actually these are few kick-ass Godsmack songs, and lead singer Sully Erna has been named to the cast of Woodhaven Pictures' upcoming Army of the Damned.

This will be Erna's feature film acting debut, and he will be joined by a delightfully diverse cast. Producer Chad A. Verdi has also announced that horror legend Michael Berryman, entertainer Joey Fatone, professional wrestlers turned actors Tommy Dreamer and Thea Trinidad, as well as a man who knows a little something about scaring people himself, Nick Principe, have been added to the cast. Jackie Moore and Tom Paolino round out the list of players. The film will be directed by Tom DeNucci and begin filming in April with additional cast members yet to be announced.

Faced with life and death situations, these officers are forced to throw the rule book out in order to stay alive. With the help of a reclusive hermit (Berryman) and a petty criminal (Principe), the lawmen do all they can to serve, protect and avoid joining the Army of the Damned.

Woodhaven has previously released the Robert Englund vehicle Inkubus, followed by Infected which starred William Forsythe and Michael Madsen. Dig the original artwork for Army of the Damned below.

From the Press Release

Verdi will produce four films in the state of Rhode Island over the next 18 months. "This film will mark the start of one of the most aggressive production schedules ever attempted by a production company. It was not our intention to try to film all four feature films in 18 months, we had a five year plan when we started out. But due to actor and director commitments, along with the financing and distribution schedule, we decided to pull the trigger and run with it," Verdi said

Verdi's latest films, Infected and Self Storage, are being released through Screen Media and will each reach over 100 million homes through Universal's VOD platform starting with Infected on April 10 and Self-Storage on June 2. The release dates on both films were moved up due to high demand.
